Busan city joined a discussion over how to support local MICE industry

The city of Busan announced on Apr. 16 that the local authorities hosted an in-depth discussion on Apr. 17 in an effort to put the city officials’ heads together to find a support solution for local MICE industry, hit hard by the lingering effects of COVID-19. A host of aid packages to help MICE industry, squeezed by the recent coronavirus shock, along with several other measures to further develop the industry were under discussion. The panels have also joined the open discussion over how to keep the industry sustainable, reinforce growth infrastructure, share human resources and enhance capacity competent enough to host large scale events.

In addition, other themes such as city level marketing strategies, forming global marketing networks and the industry innovation were also treated. With a city budget worth KRW 470 million (particularly secured through the revised supplementary budget), the city government unfolded an investment draft to finance a host of exhibitions and to give another KRW 500 million to local businesses in MICE industry tumbling under the weight of coronavirus crush.
