The largest tourist site in Chungnam-do will be developed in Wonsando, Boryeong.

Chungnam-do said on August 1 that after the second attempt to the selection of the investment leading area by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport since 2015, it was selected as the region for "Boryeong Wonsando Marine Tourism Wellness Complex."

The Province also attracted a private investment of 740 billion won linked with the opening of the undersea tunnels and inter-island bridges in 2021 that connect Wonsando with Anmyeondo and Daecheon Beach, leading to the establishment of tourism belt in the western coast of Chungnam-do that will also realize regional strategic projects with development potential.

The Province plans to invest 4.282 trillion won in 99 businesses for 10 years after discovering new leading businesses that will lead regional development, starting from this year.

The investment leading district in Boryeong Wonsando Marine Tourism Wellness Complex has been making great efforts to win the selection to promote private investment by identifying regional strategic business with potential and to realize private investment with that project as a growth engine.

The project includes creation of a tourist complex (966,748 ㎡) in the region of Wonsando-ri, Ocheon-myeon, Boryeong-si, Chungnam-do to build a complex marine tourism resort with resort condominium, water park, marine amusement park and auto-camping site.

The resort will play as a key hub along the tourism belt in the western part of Chungnam-do by using the regional strength such as increased road access thanks to the connection of Route 77 with Wonsando's great marine landscape resources.

The effect of significantly enhanced employment, production and added value is also expected in the underdeveloped regions through promoted private investment customed to new tourism demand linked with the opening of undersea tunnel and inter-island bridge between Boryeong and Anmyeondo.

On the other hand, since the signing of an MOU with Daemyung Resort in 2015, Boryeong-si is going through licensing procedures including environmental effects evaluation, and the Province will approve the plan for designating and creating tourism complex in October.
