Chungnam-do to Export Sweet Potato and Rice Cake for Tteokguk to Malaysia

(HONGSEONG=Yonhap News) Chungnam-do announced on October 11 that it is ready for shipment of agricultural products worth USD 200,000 to be exported to Malaysia.

The volume of the products was about 47 tonnes, including 10 tonnes of Cheonan pear, 10 tonnes of Nonsan sweet potato, 5 tonnes of Nonsan Melon, 10 tonnes of Hongseong laver, 8 tonnes of Seosan kimchi, 2 tonnes of Geumsan ginseng, and 2 tonnes of Asan rice cake for tteokguk.

Among these items, sweet potato and rice cake for tteokguk are presented to Malaysia for the first time.

Each fresh agricultural product will be sold at NSK Trade City in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

"The sweet potato with the less preferred size in Korea is expected to play an important role," said an official from the Province. "We will make efforts to pioneer the market in diverse ways."
