Chungnam-do supports Asan-si to foster the electric vehicle parts industry

(HONGSEONG=Yonhap News) Chungnam-do will foster the industry of electric vehicle parts in Asan.

On August 12, Chungnam Governor Yang visited Asan-si and signed a policy agreement for auto part export support through development of small electric vehicles" with Asan city mayor.

In connection with "2020 Region revitalization project" led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the agreement includes investment of KRW 7.2 billion (national budget of KRW 5 billion combined with provincial budget of KRW 2.2 billion) for a year starting from 2020 to support establishment of electric vehicle parts industry in Asan-si.

Projects included are design of car and parts, mold manufacturing, simulation, and body assembly.

Governor Yang said, "Asan accounts for 25 percent of Chungnam's auto parts exports, offering the best location condition to foster the auto parts industry," adding that "We will create electric car infrastructure equipped with sufficient driving distance and charging time."
