Lands reclaimed alongside the west coast to be upcycled for smart farming and mobility technology

According to Yonhap News,

A series of community development plans will be pushed on. The local government unveiled an outline to turn a large swath of farmlands reclaimed alongside the west coast of the peninsula into a hub of smart farming and mobility industries.

Taean County announced on Jan. 27 that the authority is now pushing ahead with the plan, transforming some parts of the farmlands particularly susceptible to soil salinization into a so called smart farming valley that accommodates smart farming system and facilities to produce and process local harvests. To proceed the project as they’ve long set up, the County will closely work together with Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) for the land purchase, estimated to cost roughly KRW 43.2 billion. Plus, the county has already been embarking on necessary steps for administrative process, letting the community have an entertainment zone, named ‘UV Land’, which sprawls across 115,703 square meter site in the reclaimed lands at the end of this year. This KRW 9.5 billion UV land would become the mecca in which visitors can test and fly numerous types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), a part of municipal development plans to get fully ready for the era of the 4th industrial revolution. The land is scheduled to have a flight school, racing circuit, airstrip, unmanned controllable multi-center, mobility simulation center for remote control and attendee experience zones. The county also plans to have an annual contest to award the best pilot.

In addition, there will be the longest straight track for test drive in Korea, an R&D center co-founded by Hyundai Engineering & Construction and Hyundai Mobis, inside the reclaimed land in Seosan city. The road, which stretches to 4.75 kilometers, a testing ground to make an adaptive response to global demand for slashing greenhouse gas emissions while enhancing fuel economy, will be completely established till the end of next year.

A city official said “Once the entire construction process is over, eosin is believed to become the very spot, a mecca of auto industry fully equipped with resources from auto parts, production and design to R&D. We’ll make an all-out effort to give full support to the program”
