According to Yonhap News,
(SEOUL=Yonhap News) South Korea's leading information technology (IT) trade fair will highlight the latest advances in 5G communication, artificial intelligence (AI) and other cutting-edge sectors, the government said Tuesday.
The annual World IT Show 2019 that kicks off Wednesday will be held under the theme of "Smart Innovation," with participants to showcase up-to-date products and services as well as exchange know-how, according to the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Some 400 businesses -- including local telecommunication giants SK Telecom and KT; Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's largest carmaker; and global telecommunications equipment company Qualcomm Inc. -- are set to attend the four-day event at the Convention and Exhibition Center (COEX) in southern Seoul, the ministry said.
"5G, AI, Internet of Things, virtual and augmented realty, smart city and autonomous cars will take center stage, along with conferences and seminars designed to allow companies to better gauge future trends in the telecommunication sector," the ministry said.
South Korea was the first country in the world to launch full-fledged 5G services on April 3, which provide super fast connection speeds, low latency and the ability to connect many more devices without the system being bogged down.
