According to Yonhap News,

A cruise carrying a large number of tourists will enter Sokcho Port in Sokcho, Gangwon State, for the first time this year.

According to Gangwon State and Sokcho-si on April 14, Westerdam Cruise Ship (81,811 tons) of Holland America enters Sokcho Port at 9AM on April 19 and departs for Kanazawa, Japan at 10 PM on the same day.

This Cruise Ship entered Sokcho Port for the first time in October last year after the outbreak of COVID-19, and 1,725 people toured Sokcho, Yangyang, and Goseong at the time.

There are about 2,700 passengers on board this year, who are mainly from the United States and Canada. Of them, about 1,000 are expected to disembark and take a tour.

With the arrival of Cruise Ship, involved organizations including Gangwon State, Sokcho-si, CIQ (Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine) will hold a working-level meeting on April 16 to support preparation for entry.

In celebrating the arrival of Sokcho-si, Gangwon State and the Gangwon Tourism Organization will run a welcoming performance and a local specialty booth within the terminal.

They also plan to deploy shuttle buses and taxis to make it easier to travel to Sokcho Central Market.

Gangwon State and Sokcho-si expected the resumption of cruise arrivals, which had been suspended since the outbreak of COVID-19, to revitalize the local economy and enhance the status of Sokcho Port as the best cruise port in Korea.
