Korea, drawing the most attention on social media. Indeed, the number of domestic tourists visiting
Jeju in 2018 reached 13.09 million – a ﬁgure equivalent to one-quarter of Korea’s total population.
Population Growth Rate 10 times Higher than the National Average
In May 2018, a survey of 1,462 young ofﬁce workers ranked Jeju ﬁrst among ‘dream cities one
wishes to live in’. While national population growth ﬂuctuates barely above 0% due to a low
birthrate and aging population, Jeju’s population growth is accelerating every year thanks to the
inﬂux of young migrants since 2012.
