On January 23, the Korea Gas Safety Corporation (KGS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Chungbuk-do, Cheongju-si, and H2KOREA to build the 'Hydrogen Gas Safety Hub Center (tentative name)'.

The center will be built in Bongsan-ri, Osong-eup, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, with a goal of commencing operation in the second half of 2026. It will be built in a site area of 1,541㎡ and a total building area of 4,371㎡, with one basement and seven floors above the ground.

For the establishment of the center, a total of KRW 21.3 billion will be invested in purchasing land, and building facilities. It will be completed in 2026 after completing design this year, followed by construction and inspection in 2025.

The center will be responsible for conducting policies, research, education, and related seminars in the field of hydrogen and gas according to the policies for revitalization of the hydrogen economy by the government and local governments .
