Boeun-gun “to Develop Sinjeong District into Resort & Leisure Hub”

According to Yonhap News,

 

Sinjeong District in Mt. Songni is expected to be developed into a resort and leisure complex where people can improve their health and experience natural healing.

 

Boeun-gun released the basic development plan for Sinjeong District where it plans to invest KRW 371.2 billion by 2015 in a press briefing on April 5th.

 

According to Boeun, a medical center will be built in the district to offer joint treatment of western and oriental medicine, and the center will have a hub land consisting of a lavender farm and hub theme park and a natural healing center.

 

Also, an 18-hole golf course and resort hotels will be built to form part of a tourism and leisure complex.

 

Boeun-gun added that it planned to sign an agreement with the consortium called Boeun Songnisan Resort led by Namkwang Engineering & Construction.

 

The consortium involves five additional companies: Samsung Everland which operates a theme park; Uriui which is an oriental medicine company; fertilizer producer Lohasco; Lavender Hills which conducts research in herbs; interior company Murzi.

 

Boeun County Governor Jeong Sang-hyeok said “when investment companies establish a special-purpose company, Boeun-gun will participate in the form of investment in kind holding about 17% of shares,” and added “Sinjeong District is expected to create around 800 permanent jobs and revitalize the regional tourism industry by attracting about 200,000 tourists a year.”

 

Sinjeong District is situated on the edge of Mt. Songni, and boasts a pristine natural environment with a dense forest and valley. Boeun-gun owns 2,496,000㎡ or 67.9% of the 3,674,000㎡ area to be developed into a resort.
