According to Yonhap News,

Daejeon city said on June 24 that it will start to build a new public transportation transit center near the Daejeon KTX station around next month.

Daejeon will have spent KRW 150 billion by 2029 to construct a cutting-edge-style transit center on the 78,620-square-meter lot in the west plaza of Daejeon KTX station. The new transit center will be a futuristic MaaS station featured by a multimodal mobility that combines existing and new mass-transit systems.

Starting next month, it will start to carry out the basic plan for a year to create a mass-transit platform of multimodal transportation, as well as intensify its public transport hub. Along with them, Daejeon will find ways to vitalize neighborhoods near the station by connecting them with the new transit center.

As early as the second half of 2024, it plans to wrap up the basic plan and enter the final design stage in order to complete the transit center by 2026.

"Going beyond becoming a mass-transit hub of the Daejeon metropolitan city and a driving force behind a balanced growth of the nation, the transit center will play a leading role in the future of Korea's mobility.", said Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo and, "The transit center will be of the highest level of quality not just in terms of its functions but building designs and aesthetic values."
