Gwangju to build AI Knowledge Industry Center in the AI Convergence District

A Knowledge Industry Center will be built in the AI Convergence District, one of Gwangju's Free Economic Zones, with a total project cost of KRW 30 billion.

According to the Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority (GFEZA), this project was consigned the GwangJu Metropolitan City Corporation in May last year. Following the public design competition in November last year, drawing development and working drawing have been launched recently.

It aims to provide public rental-style space for promising SMEs including AI start-ups, with investment of KRW 30.1 billion in state and municipal funds.

The construction, to be conducted on 5,000 square meters with 1 underground floor and 7 above ground floors, is to be completed by the end of 2027.

The GFEZA said that opinions of companies and experts will be taken into account, from the designing stage, and the linkage will be established to use resources and demonstration equipment of data center of AI cluster in its proximity.
