KOTRA to operate the Korean Pavilion at 'Canton Fair' in Guangzhou, China...15 Korean companies to participate

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Ahn Duk-geun) and KOTRA (President Yu Jeong-yeol) will operate the Korean Pavilion in the 1st phase of the 135th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), which will be held in Guangzhou, China for five days from April 15.

The Canton Fair is held in spring and autumn, twice a year. It is a large-scale exhibition held in the area of 1.55 million square meters, which is equivalent to more than 210 football fields. The Canton Fair, which marks its 67th anniversary this year, is regarded as one of the top three exhibitions in China along with the China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Service (CIFTIS) and China International Import Expo (CIIE), boasting its long history and reputation. In particular, the Fair is divided into three phases (期) according to industry and item, with each phase being held for a week in a row.

KOTRA has participated in the first phase every year since 2007, and this year marks the 33rd time that the Korean Pavilion is organized. In the Korean Pavilion, jointly operated with the Korea Information Technology Research Institute (Director Yoo Jun-sang), 31 companies will be participating to showcase their excellent products such as ▲ home appliances ▲ kitchenware ▲ electronics ▲ safety products and ▲ tools.

In the post-COVID-19 era, the participation of companies in the Korean Pavilion has been gradually increasing. The fact that Chinese companies' are highly interested in the Korean Pavilion also stimulated Korean companies' willingness for participation. In particular, influential local media such as China's CCTV, Guangdong News, and People's Daily actively covered the Korean Pavilion at Spring and Autumn Fairs in last year. In particular, CCTV covered companies participating in the Korean Pavilion, which was aired in March this year on a CCTV's popular program introducing companies and people of craftsmanship.

Jeon Chun-woo, Executive Vice President and Director of Small and Medium Enterprises Division, said, "Canton Fair is the best platform for international expansion," stressing that "we will spare no effort in supporting our companies' expansion in the global market, taking this Canton Fair as a stepping stone." He also asked for more interest from companies as the Korean Pavilion will be established in the second phase of Canton Fair as well starting from the second half of this year.
