KOTRA to Expand Exports of Innovative SMEs at Hannover Messe

Six organizations to operate the Korean Pavilion with 48 companies participating...Joint marketing under 'KOREA' brand
Concerted efforts to expand exports with low-carbon production technologies, and robot-related innovative products


The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Ahn Duk-geun) and KOTRA (President Yu Jeong-yeol) will operate the Korean Pavilion at Hannover Messe, the world's largest industrial exhibition to be held in Hanover, Germany on April 22-26.

Six organizations including KOTRA will jointly operate the Korean Pavilion, utilizing 'KOREA' brand. A total of 48 firms, a more than 50% increase from the last year, will participate. Adding the companies independently participating outside the Korean Pavilion, a total of 69 Korean companies will participate in the Hannover Messe.

The 77th Hannover Messe is one of the world's largest trade fair in the manufacturing sector, gaining attention as a venue for competition of innovative technologies including AI and machine learning. In particular, low-carbon production technologies that minimize carbon emissions during the production process and a technology that stores new and renewable energy in various forms are expected to draw attention, in line with this year's theme 'Energizing a Sustainable Industry'.

Meanwhile, KOTRA is stepping up efforts to create business opportunities for participating companies by actively utilizing digital marketing tools. It opened a digital Hanover products hall that contain the information of participating companies and arrange meetings with local global companies such as SIEMENS and Volkswagen through SNS marketing.

Minister Ahn said, "Korean companies have enjoyed effects of export marketing by using Korea's brand premium through the Korean Pavilion at international trade fairs including CES, MWC," adding that "we hope the the Korean Pavilion will serve as a forward base for exports in the trade fair, contributing to achieving USD 700 billion in exports."

President Yu said, "the more the carbon neutrality is emphasized globally, the more attention the Hanover Messes will draw," adding that "KOTRA will actively support to help Korea's small and medium sized companies with advanced technologies successfully enter the European market."
