The World Leaders Session in the Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity will resume this year, two years after it was suspended due to COVID-19.

According to Jeju Special Self-Governing Province on April 24, former and current leaders of countries and international and regional organizations, including Yasuo Fukuda, former Japanese Prime Minister (the 91st PM), former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon (8th SG), and ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hour, are scheduled to attend World Leaders' Session in Jeju Forum to be held at the end of May.

The World Leader's Session was held until 2020, but suspended in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 19th Jeju Forum will be held at the Jeju International Convention Center on May 29-31.

More than 300 global leaders and experts from 30 organizations at home and abroad, including Executive-Director Datuk Dr Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (UNDPPA), and the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP), will gather together.

The province estimated that about 4,000 people from home and abroad will be visiting Jeju to attend the Forum.

Jeju Governor will have a talk with Governor Liu Xiaoming of Hainan province in China, Vice Governor Ikeda Takekuni of Okinawa in Japan to strengthen exchange and cooperation and highlight the leadership of local governments at the Special Session on April 29, titled "Korea-Japan-China Subnational Leadership for Peace and Prosperity"

The World Leader's Session will take place on May 30, along with the Opening Ceremony, followed by the special session 'Subnational Diplomacy as Beacon of Global Cooperation' on May 31, among others.

Jeju-do also palns to provide local tourism opportunities to those who wish among the forum participants, and hold online events to increase participation.
