The 'High-Functional Convergence Chemical Materials Support Center', which will lead the advancement of the Ulsan chemical industry, opens today.

Ulsan-si is to hold an opening ceremony for the High Functional Convergence Chemical Materials Support Center, established in the Techno Industrial Complex in Nam-gu, Ulsan on March 22.

The center was initiated in 2021 when Ulsan-si was selected for a project to build a foundation for intelligent specialization, a contest offered by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE).

The Center, built on a 4,317㎡ site with four floors above the ground and a total floor area of 2,872㎡, has 22 advanced equipment, including ultra-precise process development equipment.

In total, KRW 19.996 billion has been put into this project.

The Center will support Ulsan's chemical industry make structural advancement and transformation into the high-value cutting-edge chemical materials industries including (semiconductor process materials, display materials, etc.), mobility materials (light composite materials, secondary battery materials, etc.), and biotechnology materials to keep up with changes in industrial structure.
