According to Yonhap News,

On October 1st, Daegu-si announced that it has been selected for the "2025 Regional-Led Artificial Intelligence (AI) Transformation Project" organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

According to Daegu, the project, which is being overseen by the Advanced Information and Communication Convergence Industry Technology Institute of Kyungpook National University, is centered around four key areas: the introduction and utilization of AI solutions, the establishment of AI infrastructure, AI talent development, and the operation of an AI growth support program. The goal is to transform Daegu's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with AI.

To this end, the city plans to invest a total of KRW 23.6 billion, including KRW 14 billion in national funding, by December 2026. The project will support the development and demonstration of AI leadership models by local companies and the establishment of the Daegu AI Innovation Center in the Dongdaegu Venture Valley.

The AI Innovation Center will provide key infrastructure for businesses, such as an AI data center, performance testing facilities (testbeds), and data free zones, which companies can use jointly.

Additionally, the city will run tailored AI workforce training programs for both current employees and prospective job seekers or entrepreneurs.

With the project, Daegu expects to support AI transformation for more than 20 companies, create 35 direct jobs, and introduce 20 new AI solutions.

The city also anticipates that this initiative will enhance the competitiveness of regional industries, such as future industries in ABB (AI, Big Data, Blockchain), mobility, healthcare, and robotics.
