According to Yonhap News,

On September 3, KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) announced that it has opened the Korean Pavilion at 'SEMICON India 2025,' which kicked off on the 2nd at the Yashobhoomi Convention Center near New Delhi, India, with a three-day schedule, to support the entry of domestic companies into the Indian market.

SEMICON India is the largest exhibition in India related to the semiconductor industry, which is being fostered by the Indian government as a strategic industry.

This year, 350 companies, including global equipment and materials companies such as Tata, Kaynes, and Micron, as well as investment institutions, participated. Four countries, including Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia, set up national pavilions.

The Korea Pavilion showcased products from five prominent domestic semiconductor companies and set up a B2B consultation space to facilitate export negotiations.

KOTRA, along with the Korea Power Device Industry Association and the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, participated in the event and laid the foundation for expanding semiconductor cooperation between India and Korea by joining roundtable discussions hosted by the India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA) and networking programs with Indian government agencies.

Demand for semiconductors in India has been rapidly increasing due to the rise in smartphone, home appliance, and automobile production.

With growing global uncertainties, including the imposition of semiconductor tariffs by the U.S., India is being recognized as a critical hub for supply chain diversification.

The Indian semiconductor market, currently valued at USD 53 billion (approximately KRW 69 trillion), is expected to grow nearly twice to USD 100 billion by 2030, capturing about 10% of the global semiconductor market, according to global consulting firm McKinsey.

In response, the Indian government launched the ‘SEMICON India’ program in 2021, with a budget of USD 9 billion (about KRW 12 trillion), and established the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) to attract global companies

Kim Dong-hyon, KOTRA’s South Asia Regional Director General, remarked, “Currently, 10 semiconductor projects are underway across India, focusing on backend processing. Through participation in this exhibition, we will fully support our companies to directly assess India’s growth potential and collaborate with local companies to achieve tangible results.”
