(1) Reasons for Proposal
The Road Traffic Act was amended (Act no. 15530; promulgated on March 27, 2018; to be enforced on January 1, 2019) to reduce the driver’s license renewal period to 3 years for persons aged 75 years or older and require any person aged 75 years or older who intends to obtain or renew his or her driver’s license to receive traffic safety education. Accordingly, this Amendment adds to and improves upon the subordinate law to prescribe detailed implementation measures.
(2) Major Provisions
A. Require elderly drivers aged 75 years or older to receive at least 2 hours of traffic safety education administered by the Road Traffic Authority, and prescribe that the main content of the education shall be prescribed by the Ordinance of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (Article 38-3 newly inserted)
