(1) Reasons for Proposal

This Partial Amendment aims to oblige the installation of alarm devices which induce a driver or a teacher aboard a child transport motor vehicle to check the inside of the vehicle to prevent accidents where a child is left unattended in such a vehicle.

(2) Major Provisions

A. Supplement the Standards on Seats for Child Transport Motor Vehicles (Articles 25, 98)

Readjust the seat dimensions, distance between seats, and the height of the back of the seat in a child transport motor vehicle to be in line with children’s physiques

B. Introduce the Standards on Child Check Alarm Devices in Child Transport Motor Vehicles (Article 53-4)

Enable a driver or a teacher aboard a child transport motor vehicle to operate a child check alarm device installed at the back of the vehicle after the vehicle is no longer in operation to check whether any child remains on board the vehicle to prevent accidents where a child is left unattended in such a vehicle
