(1) Reasons for Proposal

To promote the Internet and IT industries, this amendment seeks to newly insert technical standards for 5-gigabyte and 10-gigabyte Ethernet interfaces, 10-gigabyte passive optical terminals and transmission/reception characteristics of Ethernet optical terminals.

(2) Major Provisions

A. Modify relevant provisions to add digital interface standards and electrical conditions for terminals required for 5-gigabyte and 10-gigabyte internet services (Article 15-2)

B. Modify the technical standards provisions for passive optical terminals used to extend transmission range for 10-gigabyte internet optical services (Article 17-7)

C. Newly insert technical standards for Ethernet optical terminals required for 10-gigabyte internet optical services (Article 17-8)
