(1) Reasons for Proposal
The Amendment aims to tighten safety control on food poisoning by establishing rigorous refrigeration standards for the preservation and distribution of minced meat and minced/processed meat products such as tteokgalbi made for easy home cooking.
It also aims to delete velvet beans, which carry feared safety risks, from the list of food sources.
(2) Major Provisions
A. Amend the preservation and distribution standards [Proposed Items 2. 4. 10)]
1) There is a growing trend toward increased intake of easy home-prepared foods with the increase of single-person households.
2) Amend the temperature for refrigerated preservation and distribution of minced meat, minced/processed meat products to -2∼+5℃
3) Tighten safety controls on food poisoning of tteokgalbi, etc., made for easy home cooking
B. Restrict the conditions for use of food sources [Attached Table 1 of the Proposed Item]
1) With reports on the cases of adverse reaction and hazard information from the intake of velvet beans, there is a need to modify food sources is necessary.
2) Delete velvet beans from the list of food sources
3) Supply the public with safe foods by ensuring the safety of food sources
