(1) Reasons for Proposal
This amendment aims to activate the quality certification of children's favorite foods by matching the referenced provisions of laws, food types, etc., following the revision of related statutes and notices and reasonably adjusting standards for nutrition among quality certification standards for children's favorite foods.

 

(2) Major Provisions
A. Actualization of standards for safety (attached [Table] No. 1)
○ Revise “prior confirmation registration foods” such as imported foods under Article 19 of the Food Sanitation Act into “foods of good importer and good foreign food facilities” under Articles 7 and 8 of the Special Act on Imported Food Safety Control.
B. Adjustment of standards for nutrition (attached [Table] No. 2)
○ Since there is no restriction on high-caffeine foods, to supplement this, newly insert a provision that no high-caffeine food shall receive quality certification.
○ Expand the foods subject to the mark of “This food is for children's intake” to quality certification targets in addition to the existing children’s favorite foods.
○ Reflect the Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans to reasonably adjust nutritional standards, such as lowering protein standards and establishing vitamin D standards.
○ Newly insert standards that nutrient satisfaction criteria shall not be applied to foods using more than 95% vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains, eggs, and milk as main ingredients.
C. Actualization of standards for the use of food additives (attached [Table] No. 3)
○ In accordance with the revision of the Standards and Specifications of Food Additives, add food coloring Red No. 2, food coloring Red No. 2 aluminum lake, and food coloring Red No. 102, which were allowed for confectionery use to the list of edible tar colors that shall be unusable.
○ Specify the list of preservatives that are unusable in the quality certification standards for unclassified food types.
