(1) Reasons for Proposal
To prevent accidents that may occur if a child ingests an excessive amount of iron through a product containing iron, a nutrient specified in the Standards and Specifications for Health Functional Foods, this Amendment prescribes compulsory use of safety containers and packaging for health functional foods containing a daily intake of iron of not less than the specified amount.

(2) Major Provisions
Prescribe the use of safety containers and packaging for products containing iron (2. 2. 11))
1) Excessive iron ingestion causes iron poisoning, which may lead to such issues as gastrointestinal bleeding and liver damage. Cases of child poisoning are being reported, indicating a need to prepare safety control measures to prevent excessive ingestion by children.
2) The Amendment prescribes that safety containers and packaging shall be used for any product containing a daily intake of not less than 30 mg of iron.
3) It aims to prevent poisoning accidents that may occur when a child misuses a product containing a daily intake of iron equal to or greater than the specified amount.
