(1) Reasons for Proposal
In accordance with the amended Motor Vehicle Management Act (amended on August 27, 2019; to be enforced on February 28, 2020), this Amendment prescribes procedures for modifying designations or registering changes made to designated matters concerning designated maintenance business entities, and amends provisions to require motor vehicle tests to check for the normal operation of lane departure warning systems and advanced emergency braking systems, which have been made compulsory to prevent major traffic accidents.
(2) Major Provisions
A. Introduce procedures to modify designations or register changes for designated maintenance business entities (Article 87-2 and Form 57-2, Form 57-3 newly inserted)
- Require designated maintenance business entities to apply for a modified designation if a change is made to an important matter, and register changes made to any other matter.
B. Amend motor vehicle testing standards and methods to include lane departure warning systems and advanced emergency braking systems (Article 80 and attached Table 15)
- Modify acceptance criteria and motor vehicle testing standards and methods to include lane departure warning systems and advanced emergency braking systems, which have been made compulsory and are due for testing from 2020 in motor vehicles for passengers and freight that have been equipped with an air brake system
