(1) Reasons for Proposal
To strengthen the provision of information on consumer interests, this amendment aims to insert new provisions such as indicating de-caffeinated products for tea products, and labeling the mixing ratio of soy sauce used on the labeling surface of mixed soy sauce products.
Additionally, it aims to improve the date display of food additives and disinfectants for apparatus, etc., clarify the scope by specifying ambiguous regulations among the common standards, and otherwise improve and supplement various regulations that do not match the current regulations considering the food types in accordance to Food Standards and Specifications.
(2) Major Provisions
A. Amendment of Partial Regulation among Common Labeling Standards (II. 1. i, ac. 3) a))
1) Add 'Container and Packaging Material' among the labeling items that can be changed from the original labeling depending on subdivision or repacking
2) Clarify by adding 'Raw Material Name, Name of Overseas Manufacturing Company' to the labeling items which shall not be covered by stickers, etc., among the original indications of the exporting country.
B. Amendment of other labeling items such as tea products among individual labeling and labeling standards (Ⅲ. 1. i, k, 2. a, 3. a.)
1) Delete the product name restrictions for fruit tea products among other categories by reflecting the classification of food types according to Food Standards and Specifications.
2) Insert new provisions concerning labeling decaf caffeine products for various types of tea
3) Revise so as to display the mixing ratio and total nitrogen content of mixed soy sauce on the main labeling surface.
4) Insert new proviso to enable the labeling of the expiration date instead of the date of manufacture for food additives and disinfectants for apparatus, etc.
C. Amendment of expiration date regulation among detailed labeling criteria for each label (attached Form 1, 2. c, 3. c.)
1) Revise the mutatis mutandis provisions concerning detailed labeling standard as the regulation on date of manufacture or the expiration date of the food additives and disinfectants for apparatus, etc., is to be revised.
