(1) Reasons for Proposal

In preparation for new facilities and emerging ships which applied cutting-edge materials or new technologies, these Regulations are intended to swiftly prepare standards for ship facilities under Article 26 of the Ship Safety Act and define matters required to facilitate ship surveys.

(2) Major Provisions

A. Define the establishment and roles of the Technical Advisory Group (Article 3)

Allow for establishing the Technical Advisory Group and receiving advice therefrom if deemed necessary for the amendment of standards for ship facilities.

B. Prepare interim standards for ship facilities (Article 4)

Make sure that new standards for ship facilities and survey standards prepared from technical advice are applied to ship surveys, provide them to the ship facility survey agency, and post them on the official website of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.

C. Apply interim standards (Article 5)

Require the ship facility survey agency to survey ship facilities pursuant to interim standards and submit the results to the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries.

D. Issue interim standards (Article 6)

Require the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries to issue interim standards pursuant to Article 4 in the forms of directive, established rule, instruction, notice, and public announcement.
