(1) Reasons for Proposal

As there is a concern that excessive amounts of color additives can be used if they are mixed together to make various colors although the food and maximum amount for which they can be used are specified individually, this Partial Amendment aims to amend the Standards and Specifications for Food Additives to set mix use standards to prevent the foregoing.

(2) Major Provisions

A. Create mix use standards for color additives

1) Establish mix use standards to prevent excessive amounts of color additives when many of them are mixed together

2) Create general use standards for the mix use of color additives (II. 2. 8)

3) Improve use standards for 16 color additives including Color Additive Green No. 3 to apply mix use standards (II. 5. A. Color Additive Green No.3, Color Additive Green No. 3 Aluminum Lake, Color Additive Red No.2, Color Additive Red No.2 Aluminum Lake, Color Additive Red No.3, Color Additive Red No.40, Color Additive Red No.40 Aluminum Lake, Color Additive Red No.102, Color Additive Blue No.1, Color Additive Blue No. 1 Aluminum Lake, Color Additive Blue No.2, Color Additive Blue No.2 Aluminum Lake, Color Additive Yellow No. 4, Color Additive Yellow No.4 Aluminum Lake, Color Additive Yellow No.5, Color Additive Yellow No.5 Aluminum Lake)

4) Ensure public health by reasonably managing the amount of color additives used
