(1) Reasons for Proposal

The Amendment aims to increase the maximum number of members in the review committee for innovative medical technologies from 15 to 20, increase the expertise of the review process for innovative medical technologies by formulating the grounds for requesting expert advice in the applicable review process, and expand the review scope of the applicable review standards for innovative medical technologies so as to vitalize the clinical use of innovative medical technologies, thereby improving and supplementing some shortcomings found in the current system. 

(2) Major Provisions

A. Increase the maximum number of members in the review committee for innovative medical technologies from 15 to 20 and formulate the grounds for requesting expert advice in the applicable review process (Article 4 (2) and (5))

B. Expand the review scope of the applicable review standards for innovative medical technologies so as to vitalize the clinical use of innovative medical technologies ([attached Table 1])
