(1) Reasons for Proposal

These Standards are created for type approval testing and inspection for new types of ship equipment  that are needed to build a battery-powered ship.

(2) Major Provisions

A. Define testing methods and acceptance criteria for five major items in a battery-powered ship (lithium secondary cell): battery cell, battery module, battery system, power converter, and propulsion motor (attached Table 1)

B. Create inspection items and sampling inspection methods for new type approval testing items (five items including battery cell) for a battery-powered ship (attached Table 2)
