As the Wildlife Protection and Management Act, which requires the disposal method of captured harmful wild animals to be determined by the Ordinance of the Ministry of Environment, has been revised (Act No. 16609, promulgated on November 26, 2019; to be enforced on November 27, 2020), this amendment aims to prescribe matters mandated by the Act.

Concurrently, it aims to improve and complement the shortcomings of the current system, such as adding the scope of permission for the export and import of wild animals that may carry or transmit diseases and supplementing the import and export permit procedures to effectively prevent the inflow of wild animal diseases into Korea.
