(1) Reasons for Proposal
A. As fires claimed many lives and caused property damage in 2017 and 2018 and the government’s audit in the second half of 2018 pointed out concealed spaces in the ceiling as a major reason for fires in buildings, the government ordered corrective measures to be prepared.
B. This Partial Amendment aims to amend Articles 180, 183, and 214 of Electrical Facility Technical Standards and Acceptance Criteria since it is necessary to make it mandatory to use non-flammable materials in ceilings and concealed spaces.
(2) Major Provisions
A. Amend the criteria for facilities in double ceilings and walls such as synthetic resin pipes vulnerable to fire (Article 180 paragraph 1, Article 183 paragraph 1, paragraph 3 subparagraph 7 and Article 214 paragraph 2 of Electrical Facility Technical Standards and Acceptance).
B. Limit facilities such as synthetic resin pipes vulnerable to fire in double ceilings in fire-prone wiring and require the installation of non-flammable finish materials in combined ducts (synthetic resin pipes) in places other than outdoor areas.
