1) Reasons for Proposal

As the Enforcement Decree of the Act on Resource Circulation of Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Vehicles was amended (November 24, 2020) to require the Minister of Environment to specify how to separate and store electric vehicle battery waste in a notice, this Notice aims to define details required for the enforcement thereof.

(2) Major Provisions

A. Electric vehicle battery separation criteria (Article 2)

Define familiarizing in advance the deconstruction manual before separating electric vehicle batteries, preparing safety tools, and ensuring conditions in the working space.

B. Define separation methods including the sequence of electric vehicle battery separation as well as matters requiring caution (Article 3)

C. Define things to comply with when storing electric vehicles battery waste (Article 4)
