(1) Reasons for Proposal
(Air purifiers) The amendment aims to define the test standards and test methods for air purifiers with a UV-C function to support the market launch of the products and to revise the safety standards in accordance with the latest international standards.
(Electric liquid heating equipment) The amendment aims to clarify the meaning of existing safety standards by adding a phrase that says rubber packings are not considered non-automatic pressure safety devices and to revise safety standards for the safe use of the relevant products.
(Coolers and dehumidifiers) The amendment aims to regulate an eco-friendly refrigerant (A2L) added to the latest international standard, which is weakly flammable, and to reinforce the safety standards for the refrigerant related to gas use so that consumers can safely use the products.

2) Major Revisions
(Air purifiers) Comply with the latest international standards (IEC 60335-2-65)
- Add requirements for marking and instructions of UV-C products.
- Add ozone concentration criteria.
- Add UV-C radiation criteria and test methods.
(Electric liquid heating equipment) Make it mandatory to install a separate pressure device as rubber packings are not considered non-automatic pressure devices
(Coolers and dehumidifiers) Revise the KC safety standard conforming to IEC 60335-2-40
- Reinforce safety standards related to gas use because the eco-friendly refrigerant is weakly flammable.
* Determination of refrigerant charge level, maximum permissible surface temperature, ventilation requirements, refrigerant detection system, leakage detection measures, installation of flame safety devices and safety alarm devices, etc.
- For domestic apartment houses, add safety standards related to the refrigerant charge level and ventilation requirements since outdoor units of air conditioners are installed indoors (i.e., in rooms for the outdoor units).
- Add matters on UV-C irradiation test, service personnel competency, etc.
