(1) Reasons for Proposal
This Amendment aims to adjust the dose limit of exposed radiation, considering health protection measures for aircrew and the risk of radiation for the human body, and extend the storage period of exposed cosmic ray data to allow aircrew to access the data even after they retire.
(2) Major Provisions
A. Revise down and manage aircrew’s annual dose limit of exposed radiation (Article 4)
- No more than 100 mSv in 5 years without exceeding 50 mSv in a year → 6 mSv annually
- For pregnant female aircrew, 2 mSv → 1 mSv
B. Extend the storage period of aircrew’s data investigating, analyzing, and recording exposed radiation as conducted by international air operators every year (Article 5)
- 5 years → The later of the day when aircrew turns 75 or 30 years from the last flight operation
C. Review the feasibility of the Rule on Cosmic Ray Safety Management (Notice) and extend the re-review deadline (Article 8)
