(1) Reasons for Proposal

In consideration of the characteristics of the software for railroad cars that are stabilized at the completion stage of car production and the fact that they are applied in various forms, the Amendment aims to systematize the safety requirements and inspection methods, and improve issues with inspection procedures and standards found in the formal approval inspection process. 

(2) Major Provisions

A. Simplify software inspection of railroad cars from the step-by-step inspection to the international certificate and version verification required under the technical standards.

B. Differentiate the inspection method for each program type on account of the fact that various types of programs are applied to the software of railroad cars depending on the business type.

C. Establish a basis for safety verification and exemption from the application of technical standards for partial modification of source codes compared to the previous program in consideration of the association with the previous operating environment.

D. Correct any error in the test standards in relation to broadcasting equipment, side windows, etc.
