1. Reason for proposal

In accordance to the result of hazard evaluation in accordance with Article 24 of Act on Registration and Evaluation, etc. of Chemicals is intended;
○ To designate acrylamide having high risk during handling for specific uses as a restricted material and

○ To expand the range of restriction of lead and chromium (6+) for reducing heavy metals in paint to all kinds of paint and reduce allowance of lead in paint;

○ To reduce the hazard of corresponding materials to people’s health and environment.

2. Main content

○ The content standard of mixtures containing restricted materials 06-5-8 (lead and mixtures containing lead at 006% or higher levels) is strengthened (0.06% → 0.009%) and restriction is expanded from prohibiting the handling of paint for toys of children aged 13 or younger to all kinds of paint.

○ Prohibition of restricted materials 06-5-10 (chromium (6+) compounds and mixtures containing them at 0.1% of higher levels) is expanded from construction-use paint to all kinds of paint.

○ Acrylamide and mixtures containing 0.1% or higher levels are designated as restricted materials to prevent the use for grout.
