Reasons for Proposal and Major Provisions

In order to verify whether safety inspection institutions that conduct safety inspection, testing, and analysis for the production and supply of safe agricultural and fishery products have properly carried out safety inspections, etc., the Amendment prescribes that the safety inspection institutions shall prepare and preserve records on the safety inspection, testing, and analysis and submit the outcome thereof to the Minister of Food and Drug Safety; that the Minister of Food and Drug Safety may order the relevant public officials to visit the safety inspection institutions to inspect their facilities and examine the related documents if necessary for the management and supervision of such safety inspection institutions; and that in case the safety inspection institutions reject, interrupt or avoid such visits by the relevant public officials, the Minister of Food and Drug Safety may cancel the designation of such safety inspection institutions.
