1. Reasons for Amendment

∙ The Specifications and Quality Standards of Timber Products notified by the Korea Forest Research Institute in accordance with Article 20 of the Act on the Sustainable Use of Timbers and Article 32 of the Enforcement Decree of the same Act were revised to reflect the industry trend and technology status to reasonably improve the standards of Annex 7 (Particle Boards).

2. Major Provisions

∙ Add structural particle boards to the types of particle board and newly insert quality standards, test methods, and labeling methods for structural particle boards in Annex 7 (Particle Boards).

∙ Modify the classification and marking of incombustibility in Annex 7 (Particle Boards) to harmonize with the Standards for Incombustibility of Building Finishing Materials and Fire Spread Prevention Structure, the Notice of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

- Modify “incombustibility level 2 (incombustibility 2)” and “incombustibility level 3 (incombustibility 3)” to “quasi-noncombustible” and “incombustible,” respectably, and remove “normal (-).”

∙ Add KS reference standard in Annex 7 (Particle Boards).
