1. Reason for revision
As Enforcement Decree and Enforcement Rule of Food Sanitation Act was revised so that the sale of foods passed automatic mixing and treating processes in the vending machine are included in the range of “food vending machine business,” it is intended to establish standards on microorganisms in order to secure the safety of the foods of food vending machines and it is intended to register raw materials of marine products, of which the edible background was identified, in the list of food raw materials so that various products may be developed and distributed.
2. Main contents
A. Establish standards for microorganisms for food vending machines (Article 2, 3, 4 (1) and (2) of the Draft)
1) Need to ensure the safety of foods in food vending machines by reflecting the revisions.
2) Establish standards for E. coli and food-poisoning bacteria in food vending machines.
3) Ensure consumer safety via the safety management of foods sold through food vending machines.
B. Revision of food raw material list (Table 1 of the Draft)
1) Need to expand food raw materials whose edibility basis was confirmed in order to develop various products,
2) Add 42 items including bluespotted stingray—whose edibility basis including catch has been confirmed—to the list of “raw materials that can be used in food” in Table 1.
3) Activate the food industry and ensure consumer choice through product diversification.
