It is designed to enhance the safety management of food additives and ensure the safety of foods prepared with sulfur dioxide, by newly establishing ingredient standards for sulfur dioxide, which is used as a preservative and bleaching agent in food production, in line with the international standards and setting specifications for sulfur, a raw material used in the production of sulfur dioxide.
2. Main contents
a. It provides ingredient standards for sulfur dioxide and specifications for sulfur, a raw material used in the production of sulfur dioxide (Draft II. 4. a. Anhydrous Sulfuric Acid, Draft Ⅴ.2. Mercuric Nitrate Solution, and [Appendix 3] of the draft).
1) It is necessary to newly introduce specifications for sulfur dioxide and its raw materials to ensure the safety of food items prepared with sulfur dioxide.
2) It provides content and impurity limit specifications of the same level as the international standards.
