1. Reasons for revision and Main Contents
In order to meet the diverse needs of consumers of health functional foods and contribute to the development of the health functional food industry, the Health Functional Foods Act was revised to establish a customized health functional food sales business and to require managers of customized health functional foods to perform such duties as the safety management of customized health functional foods and hygiene management of subdivision facilities (Law No. 19914; promulgated on January 2, 2024; implemented on January 3, 2025). The proposed revision is designed to provide matters delegated by the Act, such as those articles that newly stipulate the facility standards for customized health functional food sales businesses and their operators' compliance items, and that add customized health functional food sales business operators and customized health functional food managers to those subject to mandatory safety and hygiene education.
