1. Reason for Revision

To address challenges in the operation of the middle school curriculum and to enable the free semester to be flexibly managed according to local and school-specific circumstance, the proposed revision aims to allow the designation and operation of the free semester as "one semester" instead of "one or two semesters."

2. Main Contents

The revision stipulates that middle school principals can designate and operate a semester as a free semester, and that the Minister of Education should establishes the matters required for the designation and operation of a free semester (Article 44 (3) of the draft).
