1. Background and Need for Government Intervention
The ornamental fish farming industry is registered and processed with a validity period of five years. However, there is no regulation on the procedure for changes or closures of registered businesses within the validity period, leading to gaps in administrative handling.
As of 2023, there are 146 ornamental fish farms, and the administrative agencies handle 2 to 3 inquiries per year regarding registration procedures.
** Ornamental fish farms are registered if they have ornamental fish tanks with a surface area of 16.5㎡ or more.
Previously, changes or closures were handled internally by the administrative agency without specific procedures. Therefore, there is a need to establish regulations on changes or closures of ornamental fish farming businesses.
