[Background]
As the "Medical Service Act" was amended (Act No. 20593, promulgated on December 20, 2024, and effective from December 21, 2025), this amendment aims to: 1) Specify the medical institutions required to establish measures for the management and supervision of caregiving services (Ganbyeong Service), a matter delegated by the Act to the Ordinance of the Ministry of Health and Welfare; and 2) Strengthen the staffing standards for nursing assistants (Ganojomusa) in wards providing Integrated Nursing and Care Service (Gano-ganbyeong Tonghap Service).

1. Medical Institutions Subject to Management and Supervision of Caregiving Services (Draft Article 47-2)
The size of hospital-level medical institutions that must establish measures for the management and supervision of caregiving services provided by persons who reside and care for patients within the inpatient room—aiming to improve the quality of inpatient service and caregiving—is prescribed.
2. Staffing Standards for Nursing Assistants in Wards Providing Integrated Nursing and Care Service (Draft Annex 1-2)
The staffing standard for nursing assistants (Ganojomusa) in wards providing Integrated Nursing and Care Service (Gano-ganbyeong Tonghap Service) is strengthened from 1 or more per 40 inpatients to 1 or more per 30 inpatients.
