Invest KOREA, a national investment promotion agency under the KOTRA (President YU Jeoung Yeol) and Seoul Fintech Lab (Director Kwon Young Eun) singed an MOU on Apr. 7 to promote foreign investment in Korean fintech companies.

With the MOU, they reached an agreement to work together to △ promote joint projects to induce foreign investment in domestic fintech companies, △ support PR campaigns on investment promotion projects of each organization, and △ share various data such as trends of the fintech industries both home and abroad and relevant policies.

Established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government as a fintech startup supporting institution in 2018, Seoul Fintech Lab is located in Yeouido, the main finance and investment banking district in Korea and now supports 80 or so startups.

By leveraging its wide network of 36, which are in charge of investment attraction, in 129 overseas offices from 84 countries worldwide, KOTRA gears up to promote the Korean fintech market as an investment destination for foreign investors.

"We will build on our 5-year efforts as a startup incubator and accelerator to further support domestic companies to turn them into global unicorns by helping their future entry into the global market." said Seoul Fintech Lab Director Kwon Young Eun and added, "The MOU we signed with Invest KOREA will mark a new milestone in our journey."

Commissioner Invest KOREA (KOTRA) Kim Tae Hyung mentioned, "We will do our utmost to attract foreign investors to make sure despite the current slowdown in the global economy, innovative fintech companies in Korea can secure enough funds for their business growth."

Meanwhile, on the occasion of UK Fintech Week, the two organizations will hold investment attraction consultation sessions both on and off-line as the first joint project. Participators will be given chances to have one-to-one meetings with local VCs and Financial institutions to perform IR activities.
