Jeju Seeks Qualitative Growth for Tourism Industry

(JEJU=Newsis) Jeju Special Self-governing Province announced February 1 that it will be pushing forward with policy agendas that will enhance the quality of the local tourism industry.

In particular, with regards to foreign tourists, the province will strive to reduce in dependence on China, by targeting other countries from which many visitors travel to Korea.

Customized marketing efforts will take place to attract individual and pecial-purpose tourists from China. Visitors from Taiwan and Hong Kong will be targeted through promotion events with airlines, while direct flights will be opened to and from cities in Japan and Southeast Asia.

In addition, the Jeju Tourism Information Center will be upgraded for the greater convenience of foreign tourists, and customized services will be provided to lure a greater number of individual tourists.

The province will also work on eradicating crime related to the tourism industry, and encourage the duty free industry and travel agencies to clean up their acts.
