(JEJU=Yonhap News) On December 10, Jeju Island signed a memorandum of cooperation with China's Tencent, Asia's biggest IT company, to promote smart tourism and to revitalize local tourism businesses and traditional markets in Jeju.
Through this agreement, the Island government will set up a 'Jeju Special Self-Governing Province' account on Tencent's WeChat platform, and deliver discount events and promotional information to the followers.
In addition, it will analyze the spending trend of Chinese tourists by sharing the results of the big-data analysis on tourists using the WeChat payment. The Island will also make efforts to attract international events in order to promote cultural exchange and tourism development in Jeju.
Jeju Island and Tencent has established a communication channel for enforcement of the agreement and continued cooperation.
