Jeju to go ahead with KRW 19 bln supplementary budget execution in jobs and economy

(JEJU=Yonhap News) The Jeju provincial government is to inject supplementary budget early in jobs and economy, including job creation for the youth and support for small enterprises in the island. .

Jeju said on March 31 that it will inject KRW 19 billion budget earmarked for jobs and economy in its first supplementary budget for 2019 to boost regional economy.

The supplementary budget will be divided into: KRW 3.7 billion for the youth job creation; KRW 10 billion for public works; KRW 1 billion to support social insurances of small enterprises; and KRW 4.3 billion for small enterprises and logistical supports.

More specifically for the youth job creation: KRW 2.6 billion will be spent to foster talent in new growth industries; KRW 500 million to foster the youth-friendly MICE industry; KRW 400 million to discover and foster young talent in tourism content; and KRW 200 million to support jobs of logistics companies to create a total of 160 jobs for young people.

The island government also plans to inject KRW 10 billion in public works program with a target of creating 1,000 jobs for young people and career interuppted women within this year.
