According to Yonhap News,

Ministry of agriculture, food and rural affairs announced on Feb. 26 that they’ve selected five local communities –Hwasung, Bosung, Suncheon, Jeju etc.- to be the candidates to try photovoltaic power to grow crops, a part of field tests to see business feasibility. The agro ministry discovers proper crops to be cultivated under the environment and business model for solar energy in powering agriculture. Authorities give subsidies to help the selectees install facilities and monitor the growth conditions and productivity.

Based upon the test results, the agro ministry is projected to spread the use of solar power in crop cultivation.
